Tell us who you are and what you do?
The name is D-Stallz,Young 20 Yr Old Hip-Hop Artist out of Buffalo, NY & what I do is bring listeners on a lyrical Journey. (Haha) Really just expressing myself and I do what I do for the Love of Music.
How did you come up with your name?
Well in high school a friend out of no where called me D-Stalls, basically using my first name initial with the couple initials in the beginning of my last name. He was just fooling around, but I thought it sounded authentic enough to be a artists name. So I threw a Z at the end of it to give it more flare, and D-Stallz it is.
Tell us about your studio set-up/space
Well tell you the truth am just beginning my journey. Ive been producing my own beats since about 2009, yet only recently put out Tha Demo mix tape last year. So I work out of my room really, nothing much yet.
How did you become a music producer?
I liked to beat box, and create sounds and always had the talent to obstruct music even though i can not play any instruments. Maybe the drums a little. But yeah producing just happened by accident. I gave it a shot, people liked what they heard and Im still trying to grow as a producer, even more so than an artist.
Who are your biggest influences?
Whoa, okay, i am an old school type so, Wu-Tang Clan, Method Man. Biggie of course, Alchemist. More recently would have to be 50 Cent, he's got that business man attitude. Jay-z as well. My favorite artist & Influence gotta be Curren$y, Jet-Life. He keeps it real, and does it big at the same time. Actually My Featured Song is basically saying get in that Jet Mode and Fly High.
What encourages you to carry on with music?
Just expressing what I feel and making music that's about more than Money, Women, and BullSh*t.
What do you think about the music industry and independent hip hop at the moment? Where do you think things are going in the next few years?
Well I just have to say music nowdays, not all but most is just ..dumb. I mean everyone has their own taste and listens to what suits them, yet I'm just not hearing quality sh*t. Seems like every one can be a rapper now, yet not any real artistry is being displayed. In next few years I believe things will be the same, just running the same course. Yet a lot of good music will be out there. Definitely with D-Stallz crossing the map!
What have you been listening to recently?
Sh*t just Curren$y and his new sh*t and old sh*t. Ummm Lucas Korek and his great productions along side S-Dot. A-Lot good talent on the cloud. (SoundCloud) Oh and the fam of D-Nice Productions. Skinny Boy Manny, Pooder (My Young Prodigy Haha), & others.
Biggest personal music achievement?
I have to say releasing my first mixtape (Tha Demo). And getting my fam involved as well.
What is your next big project, any big plans coming up?
Yess, "Mind To Paper" second mixtape. Maybe some more work with others and maybe some short films/vids on Youtube. Just Type in D-Stallz or The Demo, My channel should pop up. Check sum that sh*t out
Any last words?
