Biologic 'Lucid Dreams' Album

Dustin Chernick a.k.a Biologic was born in 1990 and grew up in Seattle, Washington. His name, Biologic, was formed from him studying biological sciences. As a child he was fascinated by wildlife which inspired him to turn to Biological Sciences as a career choice and study at the University of Colorado.
He loved hip hop from an early age and started freestyling at his friends parties in early high school. After leaving for college, and equipped with a macbook he began creating beats on Garageband and started to rap over them. He then formed the impromptu group 'Flowtation' with two good friends Levin and Jordan, but after they graduated one year ahead of him, he turned to Soundcloud to continue his music path.
He spent the next 18 months creating almost 50 tracks with producers and emcees he met through Soundcloud, a site which he credits as the reason he has had the sucess he has so far as well as the opportunity to work with so many talented producers and emcess. He also worked with some friends from Seattle and Boulder on various tracks. 12 of these tracks were picked to form his debut album 'Lucid Dreams' and sent off for mixing and mastering.
"Lucid Dreams was all about finding myself as an artist. Making sense of what I want to do with music and how I want to portray myself and my ideals through Hip-Hop. It was also meant to have an uplifting mood, and acknowledge that life sucks a lot of the time but it's really all about how you look at a situation. It's all attitude. I tried to relate my own insecurities and how I managed to overcome them in order to help others do the same".
Lucid Dreams went on to dominate popular charts within Bandcamp as well as achieve over 250 downloads and 2000 plays. It has been featured on over ten blogs as well as other sites such as Hypem. The album aims to tell people to take a good hard look at their lives and appreciate what they have.
The first track from the album 'Scientific' was originally about introducing Biologic's nerdy side but after working on the track and the beat being 'too dope' it ended up going in a slightly different direction. On the title track 'Lucid Dreams' produced by Ketone, he exhibits great wordplay over a piano drenched beat delivering solid vocals and getting across his message without sounding contrived.
HipHop Head Count is Biologic's hip hop song. His way of telling the world he loves rap, and that a lot of rappers are in it for the wrong reasons and with the wrong attitude towards the music. The beat is a real throwback to old school production and he delivers rhymes painting a picture of hip hop from his view, and using his distinct delivery.
Peace featuring Amphibian brings a soul sampled instrumental produced by
A-Beats, with Biologic rapping in machine gun fashion.
"I'm running outta space in outer space without a trace no cloud of grace/ just pound the bass keep your powdered face/ when i put - lines on your mind/ dont know how to waste - time when i rhyme"
Word was written to shed light on the power that words have and the fact that what we say to each other has a far greater impact than we like to think. That the right or wrong words may stick with people for a long time after they have been said. The beat delivers a slower tempo adding to the albums diversity and allowing Biologic to deliver rhymes at a slower pace.
Level Headed produced by JP Balboa brings a party track with banging drums and piano keys reminisent of Dr Dre. Working on bringing his game up on every level, a video was made for Beautiful Night Ft. Doug Acker, produced by Byrdversion1 and Keith Price and was uploaded to youtube in anticipation of the album dropping. It went on to achieve great critical praise.
Up and Down was the first collaboration with a producer from his hometown of Seattle. After recording the track and loving it so much, he decided to put it on the album but couldn't get hold of a WAV copy of the instrumental so ended up using the Mp3. While not ideal, the quality of the track doesn't seem to suffer at all which may be thanks to the final mixing and mastering.
With a great collection of tracks on the album and production by Ben Hedibi, MAARTN, Dramatics, JP Balboa, Byrdversion1 and Keith Price, Ketone, Morgan Backus, A-BEATS, Dj Tenk, A-Rayz, D. Wallace and HunkE, Lucid Dreams offers an uplifting hip hop album with Biologic displaying his talents as an arist whilst keeping a party vibe and dellivering a solid debut album. With fifty tracks to choose from and settling on twelve, it is safe to say the album is all killer with no filler.
Biologic is already working on a new project, a 6 track EP, titled the 'Sleeveless EP'. ManonWire and Byrdversion1 will be producing it and it will be released through AirPlus Recordings this summer. This, along with performing live regularly will ensure Biologic is going to be on the hip hop scene for a long time.
